The story of Nehemiah’s passion for the broken walls of Jerusalem and his efforts to rebuild them and give the city back its dignity is told from the point of view of Hanun, one of the builders who was galvanised into action by Nehemiah, and as a result saw his own family and his community come to life. This is one Jesus’ last miracles, restoring the sight of a blind beggar on the outskirts of Jericho. As he so often does, Jesus moves the focus of the crowd, away from him and onto the poor, sending a message to the church to put the poor at the centre of its ministry.

This is the first miracle of Jesus recorded in the Bible and a beautiful story of how Jesus changes water into wine to save the embarrassment of the wedding hosts. The quantity and quality of the wine shows us how God doesn’t just provide all we need, he can create an abundance.
